To pursue our community outreach programs, we have initiated a School Eye Health Program. We are reaching out to our school going children, by engaging their administrations, creating health awareness, training teachers, providing them the necessary tools. This is aimed at empowering schools to undertake the eyesight screening and enabling them to look after the eye and general health of their children.
Once children having decreased vision are identified, our adequately staffed and equipped mobile teams will then reach out to these schools. They will test, prescribe and dispense/ deliver glasses on their door steps. Those needing secondary or tertiary care are facilitated for the same.
Our primary focus are schools located in the underprivileged areas of the metropolis and preferably be working with such organisations running school there. One such organisation we have started working with is The Citizen Foundation.
With this humble start, God willing, in times to come, we plan to enlarge the scope of our community outreach program to include other eyecare factors as well as other areas of school health care like nutrition, height and weight, hearng, oro-dental hygiene and allergies etc.
In order to reach out to maximum number of school going children, in minimum amount of time, the use and integration of IT is not only mandatory but is a blessing. We have developed app to provide a used interface and a well structured database the backend to manage our program.
We work with other members of our community to build a network of people working together for a healthier world. To develop and sustain an ongoing school health program, a robust database at the backend was essential. We have invested our resources in developing such a backend to ensure continuation of the frontline activities.
