Optometry Internship Program

Introduction:

 The Optometry Internship Program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to apply their academic knowledge in a clinical setting, gain hands-on experience, and develop professional skills under the supervision of  optometrists and Ophthalmologists. This policy and procedures document outlines the rules and regulations of the program and the responsibilities of the interns, supervisors, and the institution.

Mission

Spare no effort in provision of eye healthcare to the individuals of community regardless of their geographical location, colour, cast or creed or their paying capacity.

Eligibility

Program Structure:

  1.  The candidate must have successfully completed Bachelor's degree in Optometry.
  2. The program will run for a period of six months
  3.  Interns will be assigned to a supervising optometrist who will provide guidance and supervision throughout the program. 
  4.  Interns will be required to complete a set of learning objectives, as outlined by the program coordinator. 
  5. Interns will be required to attend regular meetings with their supervising optometrist to discuss progress and provide feedback.
  6. Interns will be required to maintain a logbook of their experiences, including patient encounters and procedures performed.
  7. Interns will be required to complete a final project or presentation at the end of the program.

  2.   The program coordinator will review applications and select candidates for an interview. 
  3. Interviews will be conducted either in-person or via video conference.
